The Zitter Group (TZG) is a specialized market research and information firm providing clients with market-leading strategic insight into to the role of managed markets and their influence on life science products. Since 1989, TZG has worked with life sciences product manufacturers, managed care organizations, and other health care organizations to develop effective payer strategies and programs by combining expertise in healthcare, marketing, and analytic techniques. - The largest payer panel research infrastructure, allowing TZG to field quantitative surveys with 100+ payers
- The largest database of detailed health plan prior authorization policies and formulary information
- The largest syndicated studies focused on payer management of biologic and oncologic therapies, as well as employer and payer practices related to health benefit design
Position Overview and Context
TZG is a leader in providing a full range of market research services focused on payer and reimbursement issues. Primary offerings include qualitative and quantitative market research, a variety of advisory programs, and data services. In all cases, the company does not merely provide data but also interprets information and offers strategic and/or tactical recommendations. Projects typically are based on some combination of the company’s market research infrastructure, unique data assets, and payer relationships. Most projects, though customized, follow well-defined operational processes that maximize deliverable quality, client satisfaction, and profit margin.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage multiple client workstreams simultaneously in order to ensure cross-project integration
- Develop proposals and actively participate in sales processes, including phone and onsite sales calls
- Oversee and manage concurrent custom market research and analytic engagements
- Direct creation of reports for client deliverables and participate in delivery of final reports
- Manage projects, including management of project timelines, deliverables, and related functions
- Supervise project staff, including project managers and analysts
- Act as account manager for active clients as part of the project implementation process, providing strategic guidance related to and beyond active projects
- Provide intellectual leadership to syndicated market research studies
- Assist in the continued growth of existing accounts through active business development and exceptional client management
- Work closely with clients and project teams to ensure that objectives are clear, necessary information and/or data are provided, and analysis is focused on top priorities
Ultimately, the Manager ’s success will reflect his or her contributions to the success of TZG’s analytic products and strategy engagements, and the growth and development of the company’s portfolio of methods and techniques. Given the importance of close collaboration with other colleagues and with clients, the candidate’s fit with company values and culture represents an important determinant of success.
Requirements
- MBA, MPA, MPH, MS or other advanced degree from a top institution, ideally in engineering, economics, business, or the life sciences, or equivalent work experience and mastery of key concepts
- 5+ years of project management experience in biotech, pharmaceuticals, or managed care industry; strong knowledge of both biopharma and managed care issues
- Advanced analytic skills, substantial market research experience, and demonstrated success using these capabilities to provide strategic insights
- A history of success in developing new business and generating effective proposals and concepts
- Experience supervising direct and indirect reports and demonstrated history of success in leading teams
- Strong skills with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access); familiarity with data analytics and statistics packages – SPSS, SAS, etc. – preferred but not essential
- Atypical intellectual curiosity and creativity, and a commitment to continuous learning about the biotechnology, life sciences, and managed care industries, and American healthcare in general
- Strong presentation skills and ability to present complex ideas and content to diverse audiences
- Excellent client management and interaction skills, including effective task and engagement management; previous client management experience strongly preferred
- Exemplary writing skills and a strong interest in effective communication
- Previous professional experience in product management, consulting, or marketing analysis

The successful communication of complicated issues represents a critical success factor; therefore the candidate should have excellent written and oral communications skills.

Candidates will need to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility is important, as is the ability to meet budgets and deadlines.
Personally, applicants should have high energy, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well with a variety of people. Initiative and intellectual curiosity are critical; a sense of humor is very helpful.
