Position Overview

The Vice President of Business Development will be responsible for business development and sales by serving as the strategic client lead. Our clients are typically manager- or director-level brand/product and customer marketing managers from biopharmaceutical, device and diagnostic manufacturers, with an increasing concentration in biotech and injectable products. The Vice President position will report to the Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing.

The position could be based in our Millburn, NJ office, though other locations will be considered (Northeast region, Chicago area and San Francisco preferred). The job will involve 15%-40% travel depending on location and territory.

Primary Job Function: Business Growth

·         Organic: through the effective development of current clients (growing beyond existing brands or channels) and leads by developing a fundamental understanding of their strategic goals and how TZG products and services meet these goals. Organic sales expectations will include annual growth for each account.

·         New business development: will include the development of new clients from both cold calling and by participating in TZG lead generation activities to develop warm leads.

Expectations

The Vice President-level candidate will be expected to sell upwards of $1-$1.5M annually, have an extensive database and relationships with existing clients, and demonstrate a proven track record of selling large, integrated offerings. He or she must have the ability to develop and propose innovative ideas and services to clients. The VP will autonomously identify, pitch and close business at the client’s director level and be both confident and effective interfacing with more functional senior-level executives. The Vice President will have outstanding moderation and presentation skills.

If the incumbent generates enough business, they may have the opportunity to build their own team and take part in the company’s executive committee. 

A Director-level candidate will be considered if he or she brings to TZG a database of managed market industry contacts and relationships along with the ability and proven track record to sell $1M-1.5M annually. This candidate will be expected to sell services and products that comprise the standards in TZG’s portfolio, including syndicated and custom analytics, advisory boards, and educational programs, along with enduring materials to further leverage them.

Requirements

·      Health care marketing, consulting, agency or relevant experience developing business with brand or customer marketing managers in the biopharmaceutical industry. 

·      A working knowledge of the biopharmaceutical business is essential, with managed markets experience highly desired

·      Proven track record of success selling analytical products or services to executives

·      Proven strong relationship-building skills

·      Strong platform and presentation skills (conducting a presentation will be part of the interview process)

·      Basic computer literacy, strong PowerPoint skills

·      Undergraduate degree with a strong record of academic achievement (graduate degree preferred).

Candidates will need to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility is important, as is the ability to meet deadlines.
